Bike for flowers & more pudding

My house is full of flowers, all sorts from mother in law tongue to african violetsand to ones I might not even know the names for.  I’ve been looking for a decorative plant holder for a while, I stumbled upon this cute bike at Century 21 and knew it would be perfect for my window corner.

a cute plant holder ~ perfect for my african violet plant

As I have mentioned before my husband loves pudding and he is not alone on his love for pudding this my father wanted me to make some.

Recipe as same as previous this time it is with: Chocolate Pudding mixture.

Guacamole Salad ~ Avocado Salatasi

A couple of weeks ago David from Comma, Inc. gave me some delicious red sweet onions that his father grows in his own back yard in California.  He told me that they are sweet red onions “like vidalian onions” I said and he said “don’t let my father hear that.”

I had a few avocados sitting in my fruit basket and the result was a deliciously yummy guacamole.  I love guacamole, I love the smell and taste of cilantro period.

Recipe same as previous guacomole recipe.
Note: In this recipe I used a mixture of lemon and lime juice.

Dr. Oetker Rice Pudding ~ Sutlac

My husband LOVES sweets and I mean LOVES!  If I had a pan full of Baklava sitting on our kitchen counter, believe me when I say it would be finished by the morning.  I guess this why I do not make sweets or even bake often enough.  I am afraid that later on he will have a heart attack or become a diabetic.  He makes a point about me not making any sweets and nags me all the time.  My easiest escape from his nagging is to prepare pudding.  Often I make them from scratch and sometimes I use Dr. Oetkers’ instant puddings because it is quick and simple.  I often have to modify the recipe per the instructions because the instructions are not Americanized! As I say!

This past week I made rice pudding and chocolate pudding; I was not quick enough to picture the chocolate pudding.  My dear husband devoured 3 out of the 5 cups I made.  I woke him up from his sleeping asking him “what happened to the chocolate puddings?” His smiled at me and answered “they are all gone honey bunny!”  Nothing more, just a simple gone!  What else should I expect, I know he LOVES his sweets.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet of Dr. Oetker Rice Pudding ~ Sutlac
  • 2 1/2 cups of cold whole milk
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream (this adds more depth to the pudding)
  • 1 teaspoon of corn starch
note: milk to prepackaged dry ingredients ratios is not enough adding a teaspoon or two makes the pudding more solid other wise the pudding is to runny
  • 1 small pinch of mastic gum (optional)

Preparation

  1. In a stainless steel cooking pot add the package of dry ingredient and the teaspoon of corn starch.  Add 1cup of milk and stir well until all the ingredients are mixed well and the added corn starch is dissolved.
  2. Add the remainder cups of milk and heaving cream, place over a medium heat, add the mastic gum and stir constantly until the mixture thickens.
  3. Once the mixture has thickens, take of heat and cool for few minutes.
  4. Pour into serving dishes and set a side to cool.
  5. Before serving can be served cold or hot, sprinkle some cinnamon over the top.
  6. Can be refrigerated up to 3 - 4 days as long as the top of the serving dishes are covered.

All Dr. Oetker products are available at A&D Turkish Halal Meat & Grocery Market.
Mastic gum picture will be added to Herbs & Spices. SooN!
